Project Description
Ark Hunters Academy was created right around the same time as Reigning Sun. It was the first fan site to be added to the Reigning Sun network. It featured fantastic guides, news articles, and media downloads for the game “Defiance“.
This project isn’t active anymore, as Defiance actually ended up being pretty bad. But Ark Hunters Academy will always hold a special place in my heart as the first fan site I’ve ever made.
Branding and Logo
This was one of my first times designing a logo and branding theme. It was made even more difficult by the fact that the game it was dedicated to – Defiance – wasn’t yet released. So I had very little inspiration to go on. I ended up going with a hologram image I found in some of the Defiance promotional images, and modified it to work as a logo. For the rest of the branding theme, I used electric blue colors to represent the futuristic elements of Defiance, as well as dirty grunge things because Defiance’s setting is post-apocalyptic.
Project Development
This was my first ever website designed on WordPress! I used the drag-n-drop theme, Headway, to build it. I really had no idea what I was doing when it came to WordPress. It was unlike anything I had ever used before – and I loved it!
Honestly, I went a bit overboard with some of the plugins and widgets I installed. I was just having so much fun playing with it all. Anything that I could imagine doing, there was a plugin for it!
